Welcome to the The Drop by the 30-Minute University of Planning; a newsletter introducing and connecting the people who want to create and share new knowledge about strategy, planning, and communications.
With this new format we want to introduce the world to the next generation of strategic thinkers whose hunger for knowledge will shape the future of strategy: our mentees.
So, while you are all impatiently refreshing our LinkedIn page, waiting for the next mentoring session to go live, we want to introduce you to Ichha.
Ichha bravely volunteered to help us launch this newsletter. Which not only meant being the first to test out our (remote) interview format; but also putting up with a lot of administrative back and forth; and still being kind enough to conclude that “she had fun answering the questions.”
World, meet Ichha.
Tells us a little bit about yourself.
I’m Ichha Jain, a 21 year-old management studies graduate. I’m currently working at Level Up, an upskilling platform for teenagers, as the Chief Development Officer
What excites you about (your job in) strategy?
For me, strategy is all about making an impact. After planning with stakeholders, doing adequate research, it’s very rewarding to see that someone has benefited or has felt happy from your efforts.
What are you currently reading/playing/listening to?
I’m reading the Blue Zones Solution and have Starry Night by Mamamoo on repeat. The Blue Zones Solution is an essential read for everyone who is a human and lives on planet earth.
What’s the next thing you want to learn about?
I want to learn more about branding and design.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to people who've been in the industry for much longer than you?
Chill out, tell some stories and explore your hobbies!
What’s been a really helpful piece of advice you’ve got through mentoring?
You can just do it; don’t wait for a course or a degree to teach you any skill; no experience sometimes leads to amazing experiences.
Thank you for your time, Ichha!
